Akin Huia Earrings

Handmade sterling silver earrings by AkinJewellery. From the old New Zealand coin, the huia is an extinct native bird. The earrings measure 1.8cm in diameter. Presented in a black gift box.

Akin is an artistic collaboration between Christchurch jewellers Jennie and Donna Hughes, two sisters trained in both fine metals and design. "Our aim is to create jewellery that is infused with a sense of identity. The inspiration for this range comes from our grandfather’s coin collection. Coins are a reflection of a society’s culture and heritage and have been used in jewellery dating back thousands of years. We hope that each piece we make will form its own intrinsic value for the person to whom it is given, those who wear it and those to whom it is eventually passed on."
