Hand Dyed Merino Scarf Stripes Burgandy

Or 6 payments from Laybuy What's this?

This scarf has a beautiful warm soft feel about it. The narrow random stripes make this scarf playful and unique. It can be worn in several ways from simply hanging gracefully down or placed around your neck. Woven by Tasman textile artsit Jane Clark NZ.

Jane have woven this scarf in a simple twill pattern because the stripes in the warp are the feature. The reason Jane wove this scarf is she has several small leftover balls of dyed yarn from various projects which she wanted to use. The weft colour is all one colour which helps to highlight the random stripes.

The warp of the scarf is hand dyed and is New Zealand merino wool. Merino sheep are regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep. This type of yarn makes for wonderful scarves because it is so soft when placed around your neck.

The scarves measure approximately 64” by 7” (163 x 18cm). These measurements exclude the fringe which is approximately 4 inches (10cm) long and has been twisted. This gives a nice touch to the scarf and it also helps protect those warp ends from wear. The scarf has been hand stitched at either end which helps with preserving the scarf and also another feature to help complete the handmade look.
