This original painting is by Wellington artist Helen Cairney. A few years ago Helen saw her first Giant Dragonfly (Kapokapowai) while walking through Otari Bush. It slowly flew upwards as she approached it, it's bronze wings catching the light as it rose. This inspired  'Ascent of a Giant' which is part of her 'memory mandala' collection.
