MARC ZUCKERMAN Hokitika, NZ

Marc Zuckerman uses salvaged woods or timber from renewable sources.

"We arrived in Hokitika in 1976. As an exploration geologist I fell in love with the ruggedness of the West Coast. We purchased 3 acres 20km East of Hokitika on the road towards the Hokitka Gorge and built our own home (including windows doors and cabinets). In the process of designing and building our house I became consumed by the desire to be involved in woodwork and design. The peacefulness of our environment, (1/2 km off the road to the gorge and no cell phone coverage) inspires the simplicity in my work which I consider minimalist modern with a Pacific influence".
