With roots in the applied arts stretching back to the 1970s, my creative journey has been diverse and hands-on. I began by dyeing and printing silks and cottons for both apparel and interiors, and honed my craft as a bespoke framer, creating hand-built, gilded, and carved mirror frames. I even explored the art of jewellery making.
While I dedicated nearly two decades to arts management in New Zealand and Australia, primarily in theatres, arts centers, and galleries, my passion for making things never waned. For the past six years, I've been crafting a unique range of wooden taonga boxes. "Taonga" is the Māori word for something deeply cherished—a treasure—and these boxes are designed to hold your own precious items. The timbers themselves are truly taonga.
