Lyttelton Pottery, founded by Rob Uivel, is a ceramic studio dedicated to solving unique design challenges by combining traditional hand craftsmanship with modern methods. While the studio began in the scenic Lyttelton Harbour, it now calls the Kapiti Coast home.
The inspiration for their signature product, the Deksel cup, came when Rob sought a reusable cup that avoided silicone or plastic lids. Frustrated by the lack of options, he set out to create one himself.
This project was a perfect fit for Lyttelton Pottery's ethos: creating a fully ceramic cup and lid. The beautiful ceramic lid inspired the product's name, "Deksel," which means lid in Dutch (a nod to Rob's first-generation New Zealand Dutch heritage). The Deksel cup provides a less wasteful, more aesthetically pleasing alternative that truly lets the flavour of your coffee shine.
