I weave stories from the unexpected — transforming recycled drink cans into woven works that are striking and detailed. Growing up in a big, creative family with limited means, my sister and I learned to make things from what was around us, seeing potential in all things before they were thrown away.
That resourceful spirit continues today. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, shaped by the colours and graphics available at the time — once they’re gone, they’re gone. My kete range is part of an ever-growing body of work. Using contemporary approaches rooted in Māori weaving techniques, I explore sculptural, 3D and 2D pieces as well as large-scale woven art, continually pushing the boundaries of what weaving can become.
