A beautiful soda fired Tatau vase by local potter Amanda Stowers.

Salt and Soda firing is an atmospheric firing technique in ceramics where salt or soda (sodium carbonate) is introduced into the kiln during the firing process to create a glaze. The sodium vapor reacts with the silica in the clay body and any applied slips or glazes, forming a unique, durable glaze with characteristic textures and colors.
