LISA WEST Auckland, NZ

Crafting jewellery since 1986, I formalised my practice with a Diploma of Applied Arts from Hungry Creek in 1991, later expanding my skills to include flameworked glass beads learned under artist Peter Viesnik. My work is deeply material-driven, shifting across silver, bronze, glass, stone, and shell, while recently incorporating repurposed elements.

The natural world is my permanent muse, with my designs evolving alongside my current obsessions. While my latest pieces are inspired by a newfound passion for snorkelling and coastal rambling, following a deep infatuation with invertebrates, a subtle nod to conservation runs through everything I make. It is a philosophy that connects my studio practice directly to my time spent volunteering in the environmental sector.
