Pounamu Pendant Tiki

This beautiful, small Hei Tiki pendant by Dean Moreton is crafted from New Zealand Kawakawa Pounamu (NZ Greenstone). According to Māori legend, Tiki was the first man, originating from the stars. While its exact meaning is debated, the Hei Tiki is widely associated with fertility and traditionally serves as a good luck charm to ward off evil spirits.

Kawakawa Pounamu, named for its resemblance to the Kawakawa leaf, is the most common variety of New Zealand Greenstone, showcasing a range of rich to dark greens often flecked with characterful dark inclusions.

Deane Moreton learnt his craft whilst working alongside his father in the family pounamu (greenstone) business. With over 30 years’ experience in sourcing and handcrafting New Zealand Pounamu, Deane is now one of New Zealand’s experts in the industry.
