PAKU Pū Rākau blocks aim is simple, to make learning the Māori alphabet and stories enjoyable and engaging for our tamariki. PAKU have taken mātauranga Māori and blended it with the latest technology, bringing Māori and New Zealand design into the future.

In their own right the blocks are a beautiful representation of each atua but when stacked and then scanned in the digital world with the free companion app the atua will come to life with elements that reinforce their story and character. Try to combine different atua whose stories overlap and see the interaction between the two.

Designed by big kids, for the little ones. Paku is a New Zealand design studio dedicated to creating products uniquely of Aotearoa, started by long-time friends Dr Johnson Witehira and James Prieris. 

They combine mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) with the latest technologies to reimagine the objects around us in a bicultural way.

Their kaupapa is of inclusivity and pride in Māori culture and language as tangata whenua and tangata tiriti, which they hope to make more accessible to everyone.

They design culturally inspired stuff for kids. Informed by Māori knowledge. Super-powered by today's technologies. Fun, Sustainable, Durable Designs and made in Aotearoa New Zealand.
