The Rata is an iconic bright red flowering native tree found in both Islands. It has disappeared from some areas as it is a favourite food of the possum. It's classic spear-shaped bright green leaves with distinctive fine veination are a reminder of the preciousness of our native forest heritage. These pieces spring from a love of these beautiful trees.

Each leaf is hand cut from copper, shaped with files, sanded, soldered and patterned with a scribe. The hand formed leaf-shaped hooks emphasise the classic shape.
