This stunning bone pendant has been carved by Master carver Kerry Thompson.

It has been carved out of natural coloured cow bone to retain its beautiful natural colour and texture and then part of the bone has been stained with tea to create a stunning two toned effect. It comes on a black braided cord, with a loop and carved bone toggle clasp.

The Hei Matau is a fascinating and culturally significant piece. The indigenous people of New Zealand, Maori, used Hei Matau similar to this one, to fish. Today, the Hei Matau pendant is believed to bring the wearer good luck during journeys, especially when travelling over water.
 
Care Instructions: Stained carvings should not be worn in the shower or while swimming as hot and salt water in particular will fade the stain.
