A limited edition fine art giclée print by Hannah Shand. This miromiro (Auckland Island tomtit) artwork was inspired by Hannah’s amazing experience visiting New Zealand’s remote Subantarctic Islands. One of the five islands visited on the two-week Heritage Expeditions voyage was Enderby Island, located deep in the Southern Ocean, just over 400km south of Stewart Island. A day was spent hiking around the island, photographing many birds and fascinating locally-unique plants. This beautiful wee bird was photographed by Hannah’s brother Jordon, who accompanied her on the trip, and the Campbell Island carrot (megaherb) was photographed by Hannah. Megaherbs are herbaceous wildflowers which only grow on these islands, and come in an amazing range of colours, shapes and sizes. The ‘Campbell Island carrot’ name is a little misleading, as it doesn’t look like a carrot at all, but actually like a giant broccoli, made up of tiny pink flowers! The Auckland Island tomtit is one of five miromiro subspecies and looks like the male South Island and Chatham Island variants, with a black body, yellow breast band and white wing bar. They are a small bird, typically only 11 grams and 13cm tall, and are confident and inquisitive, often flying close to people.

This stunning print is produced in New Zealand using the highest quality archival paper, inks and processes. Each print is hand signed and numbered by Hannah.

Caring for your print – For maximum longevity of your print, we recommend framing it with UV-resistant glass and also not hanging it in direct sunlight.
