A beautiful table lamp lovingly created by repurposing timber from old Tōtara fence posts.

John’s fence post lamps are a homage to New Zealand’s industrial, commercial, agricultural and social history. They’ll enhance your room and stimulate discussion around the history of the timber and the edgy industrial aesthetic.

Tōtara is one of the biggest and oldest trees in the New Zealand forest and was used extensively by Māori and later by European settlers. Its straight grain and durability meant that it was the preferred timber for carving, house piles, telegraph poles and fence posts.

Your unique lamp has been created using a section of reclaimed tōtara fencepost. In the past New Zealand’s rural landscape has been criss-crossed with different types of fencing, including traditional post-and-rail, barbed wire, and the hugely successful Number 8 wire fence.

An Edison bulb is supplied and the lamp comes with its own written story including the source and history of the timber.

Height: 380mm
Width: 175mm
