This ceramic penguin mug features a hand-painted underglaze design that is carved into the clay to look like a ceramic block print design and is paired with a lovely blue glaze. The penguin is left unglazed, creating a tactile, contrasting texture to hold. Handcrafted by Andi Hoffmann.

Andi created this design after visiting Timaru in the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, where little penguins (known as kororā in Te reo Māori) can be seen coming ashore at dusk to nest in the rocky coastal crevices. As the world's smallest penguin, these tiny creatures stand approximately 30cm tall and weigh only 1 kilogram!
