This is a print of Rob Barrington’s artwork called Piwakawaka at Whanganui. The original piece was created using Pen, ink and acrylic.

A well-known view from Whanganui to Ruapehu, whether you are in town itself or in this case up the river further into the hills. The native birdlife is always close to a stop in the carved landscape with the Piwakawaka or Fantail a dominant figure. Such a busy bird always flittering around the air supposedly picking off a range of flying bugs.

Since 2020, Rob has dedicated himself fully to his art, working in acrylics, oils, mixed media, pen and ink, and fine brush across canvas, board, and paper. His current body of work draws on a lifetime of creative exploration, weaving together memories and experiences to produce evocative compositions inspired by both urban and natural landscapes. Rob’s work is characterised by its depth, technical skill, and the thoughtful narratives embedded in each piece, making him a distinctive presence in the contemporary art scene.
